The ranges below reflect typical installed pricing, materials plus professional labor, for a straightforward room in our market. Premium product lines, intricate layouts, and extra subfloor work push toward the top of each range.
- Carpet: $3 to $8 per square foot installed. Best for bedrooms, stairs and family rooms.
- Laminate: $4 to $8 per square foot installed. A budget wood look in drier living spaces.
- Luxury vinyl plank: $5 to $10 per square foot installed. Entries, kitchens, basements and pet-friendly homes.
- Hardwood and engineered hardwood: $8 to $14 per square foot installed. Living rooms, dining rooms and long-term value.
What Actually Moves Your Number
- Subfloor condition: leveling, repairs, or moisture prep in a crawlspace-vented home add labor.
- Removal and disposal of your existing floor.
- Room size and layout complexity: odd angles and multiple transitions take more time.
