Carpet
Carpet is still the floor most people want in the rooms where they slow down, and in a Pacific Northwest winter it is hard to argue with warmth underfoot. We help you choose carpet the way it should be chosen, by the room and the household rather than the softest sample, and we plan the cushion, stairs, seams and transitions so it looks right on the day it goes in and for years after.
Comfort is the reason, durability is the decision
Why carpet still earns its place
Hard surfaces have taken over a lot of main floors, but carpet has never left the bedrooms, the family room and the stairs, and for good reason. It is warm on cold mornings, it quiets a house noticeably, it gives small children somewhere soft to play and fall, and it makes a large room feel finished. On a grey February evening, those things matter.
Narrowing the choice
Carpet comes in more styles, fibers and constructions than almost any other flooring, which is exactly why choosing it can feel overwhelming. We narrow it down by asking practical questions first. Which rooms? Who uses them, and how? Pets? Direct sun? Is this a primary bedroom you want to sink into, or a stair run that every person in the house climbs ten times a day?
Those answers point toward a few constructions and fibers that will actually hold up in each room. The goal is not the most carpet for the money. It is the right carpet for each room, chosen with clear expectations about how it will look and feel over time.
Fibers in plain language
Nylon is resilient and recovers well from traffic, which makes it a common choice for busy areas and stairs. Polyester offers rich color and a soft hand and suits lower-traffic rooms well. Wool is the natural option: it is resilient, has a beautiful look and feel, and appeals to homeowners who want a natural, renewable fiber in the house. Each has strengths and limits, and we will tell you plainly which ones fit your rooms.

Bedrooms, family rooms, stairs and the rugs in between
Bedrooms and quiet spaces
Bedrooms are where softer, more luxurious constructions make the most sense. Traffic is light and mostly barefoot, so you can prioritise comfort. Upstairs, carpet over a good cushion also reduces the footstep noise carried into the rooms below, which is something people notice the first night and appreciate from then on.
Family rooms and basements
Family rooms see more traffic, more spills and more time on the floor. Here we usually steer toward denser constructions and fibers that clean up well. In finished basements, the conversation shifts to what is underneath: concrete can carry moisture and cold, and the right cushion and preparation make a real difference to how the room feels.
Stairs
Stairs take more concentrated wear than any other surface in the house, all of it on the nose of each step. A carpet that is perfect in a bedroom can look tired on stairs within a couple of years. We often specify stairs separately and talk about installation style, whether the carpet wraps each nosing or follows the riser in a waterfall, because it changes both the look and how the carpet wears.
Area rugs over hard floors
Area rugs are a large part of what we help people with. A good rug over new or refinished hardwood brings warmth, defines a seating area, quiets a room and protects the floor where traffic concentrates. We help choose size, material and placement as part of the whole project, so the hard floor and the rug are planned together rather than as an afterthought.

What happens underneath decides how carpet wears
The cushion matters as much as the carpet
The pad under a carpet absorbs every footstep. A thin or low-density cushion lets the carpet flatten and wear faster, no matter how good the carpet above it is. We match the cushion to the carpet and the room, and we follow the carpet manufacturer's requirements so the floor performs the way it should.
Measuring and seam planning
Carpet comes in fixed roll widths, so where seams fall is a design decision. We measure each room and plan seams away from the main traffic paths and the strongest light where possible, and we show you the layout before ordering. Stairs are measured step by step, including landings and any winders, so the quote reflects the real job.
Stretching, transitions and the walkthrough
Properly stretched carpet stays flat; poorly stretched carpet ripples within a few seasons. Transitions to hardwood, at doorways and on stairs are fitted cleanly as part of the work. Before the day, we go over what needs to be cleared from the rooms and how furniture will be handled, and when the installation is done we walk through it with you so you know exactly what you have and how to care for it.

What homeowners say
"I am so happy with my floors, they are beautiful! They take pride in their work. They showed up when they said they would and cleaned while they worked. All that is left were absolutely beautiful floors. I am very pleased and thankful for how good of a job they did! I will work with them again if I ever need to."
Laura Manzano · via Google "Bill from Vancouver Flooring Co., delivered a great carpet (Shaw) at a reasonable price. Was top notch communicable throughout the project and was always there to answer my questions. The crew he had do the install (Kevin and his crew) were just an extension of what Bill delivered. No hiccups and delivered on time. Can't say enough about Vancouver Flooring Co. It's so nice, especially now days to have a company with this integrity provide a 5 star install from beginning to end. Would highly recommend Vancouver Flooring Co. and Bill for all of your flooring needs."

Carpet questions
What is the best carpet for a home with pets?
There is no single answer, but durable, cleanable fibers and denser constructions tend to perform better with pets, and the cushion and backing matter too. We ask about your pets and the rooms involved before narrowing the options, and we are honest that no carpet is completely immune to accidents.
Do you offer natural or wool carpet?
Yes. Wool is a natural, renewable fiber with excellent resilience and a beautiful feel, and it is a good fit for homeowners who prefer natural materials. We will explain how it compares to synthetic fibers for your specific rooms.
Can you help with area rugs too?
Yes. Area rugs are one of our core categories. We help with size, material and placement, especially when we are also installing or refinishing the hardwood they will sit on, so the two are planned as one finished room.
Can I see carpet samples at your showroom?
Our showroom at 8720 NE Centerpointe Dr in Vancouver has limited walk-in hours, so we recommend booking a consultation. That gives us time to look at samples properly and talk through your rooms. Call (360) 860-6084 to set a time.
Is financing available for new carpet?
Financing is available through Service Finance, subject to credit approval. Programs rotate seasonally, so we share what is currently available at your consultation.
